Light Up The Night is a community bike ride and bike light giveaway geared toward promoting safe night bicycling presented by Bike Santa Cruz County and SC Bike Party. There will be fun activities, live music, a limited number of free bike lights, and contest with lot’s of luminous prizes.
NOTE: the ride leaves from the Santa Cruz Museum for Art and History at 705 Front Street at 7pm, not the Bike Church!
Light Up the Night Route:
Ride leaves from SC MAH/Abbot Square (off Cooper St.)
Left on Cooper St. Right on Pacific. Immediate Left on Locust
Left on Cedar. Left on Birch Lane (by Bagelry)
Left on Pacific. Right on Cooper. Right on Front St.
Right on Cathcart. Right on Pacific. Right on Cooper.
Right on Front St.
Immediate Left through Trader Joe’s parking lot. Cross River St. South.
Left onto San Lorenzo River Path.
Follow to Bike/Ped bridge by Hwy 1.
Right on Ped Bridge.
Right on east SL River Path. Follow to San Lorenzo Park.
Take pedestrian bridge back over river. Left on west San Lorenzo River Path.
Follow to Boardwalk Parking Lot by River Levee.
*** Costume and other contests, prize distribution, dance break (*if rain allows) ***
*If rain makes it hard to gather in the open, we will head back towards downtown and find a suitable spot for the contest proceedings
Optional:
Onto Beach Street Bike Way.
Left onto Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf. End of wharf.
*** Second Stop: End of Wharf for dance break/rest stop ***
Head back on wharf. Left towards Westcliff. Onto Westcliff bike path.
Follow to lighthouse. Lighthouse regroup.
*** Third Stop: Lighthouse ***
Follow Westcliff back to Pacific. Right on Cooper.
End at MAH/Abbot Square
Check out the activities earlier in the evening:
5-7PM – Meet at the MAH for activities including bike light distribution, bike decorating, helmet stenciling and reflective spoke card making. Enjoy swingin’ bluegrass music by local band Cayuga Station and stretch those muscles for the bike ride!
7PM – Bike ride departs. All ages and skill levels welcome! Bring your kiddos! No rider is left behind!

Bike flair and bright costumes are highly encouraged! The goal is to be as well-lit as possible.
